ビルの８階にあるにもかかわらず、東京で唯一アンダーグラウンドな雰囲気を持つユニークな空間、「門仲天井ホール」がビル所有者の方針変更で来年夏に閉館することになりました。
私にとってこの「門仲天井ホール」はwastedの越後妻有トリエンナーレでのオープニングに先駆けてキックオフコンサートを行った場所，また写真家の佐内正史さんとライブを行った思い出深いホールです。よく歌うスタインウエイと観客との濃密な空気をつくることのできるこの特別な空間が消えてしまうのは，とても残念な事だと思います。　
友人でもあるホール支配人、黒崎八重子さんと有志が存続を願って署名活動を始めました。ホールブログ上のページに　＊名前　＊職業　＊コメントを書いていただき、【送信】ボタンをクリックしていただくだけです。いただいた情報は署名は「この目的以外には利用致しません。」とのこと。

１月に帰国したときに、仙台で毎年お仕事をご一緒する吉川由美さんと長い時間お話しする機会がありました。彼女はそのとき仙台から近い漁村でのプロジェクトの話をしておられ、その美しく、でも保守的な村に嫁いだ女性たちが悩みを抱えながら、アートプロジェクトを通して何かに目覚めて行く姿を誇らしそうに描写なさっていた。地震後のニュースはおっていたにもかかわらず、不覚にもその漁村が南三陸だという事に気づくまで数日掛かりました。津波で押し流され、一瞬に泥に埋まって映像と、お話に聞いていた豊かな海の街とが全く結びつかなかったから。
ところで「日本は豊かな国だから外国からの金銭的援助は必要ない。」「進んだテクノロジーを持っているから，外から技術は必要ないだろう。」と公に言ってるオランダ人が少なからずいます。おそらく彼らも安全で、自然に恵まれ、美味しいものにあふれ、一度は観光で訪れたいと思っている日本と、ニュースで繰り返されている、自然に破壊されたしまった土地とが、まだうまく結びついていないのかも知れない。

電気、水、食料、何も不自由もなく、今日も普通の生活を送れるこのオランダで私達に僅かながらでもできることは、つらい時間をおくっている人が大勢いる事を他に伝え、募金を呼びかける事だと思います。

Dear Friends,

I was in Sendai last January, driving with my friend, Yumi Yoshikawa who organizes concerts and exhibitions in that area. Yumi was talking about her last project in Minami-Sanriku (photo above) ,the village 90KM away from Sendai on the coast.
Everyone saw Minami-Sanriku on the TV last week. That was the place where the Tsunami has destroyed and killed half of its inhabitants.

8 days after the earthquake, the survivors are still isolated, don't have water, food, gas nor electricity.
It is freezing there,the situation is far beyond our imagination.
The only thing is that we could do is to donate our money to support them.

Please help them via the Red Cross.

2010 has been a year of many changes. In The Netherlands, our government has decided to decrease € 200 million euros for the arts which has been a topic of everyday discussions. As long as there is the need for extraordinary experiences that give sense to our daily lives, that strike us, that touch us and make us think; art will stay a powerful tool.
In 2011 my first concert will take place at Suntory Hall in Tokyo on January 18. This Piano concerto 'ZERO' by Atsuhiko Gondai was composed and dedicated to my family in 2005.


I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year! I am looking forward to the next occasion to see you again.

latest news on 'wasted'

Dear friends of 'wasted',

The exhibition and concert in Prague has been cancelled by several
reasons. We are all sad, since Prague was the first city where 'wasted' was supposed to be shown in its full size.

The good news is that the documentary film by Aliona van der Horst is an interesting and beautiful work in progress. We had a film shooting in the installation during our presentation at Noorderzon Festival in Groningen.
Aliona and her crew are going back to Japan next week to make some interviews with women who participated in the project. The film will be ready June 2011 and will be broadcasted on Dutch TV. We are also preparing to bring it to Japan as well.

The rain season is now over here in Japan. The real summer started. But everything is cool on Noh stage, even piece by Sciarrino.

End of exhibition in Heerlen

we were happy to receive so many warm and positive reactions to the exhibition and concert in Heerlen. It was such a big work to set up all those thousands and thousands of dresses again. And imagine the dresses were just in time from Indonesia by airplane....

We enjoyed a great opening with celebrity star Sylvia Kristel who blessed the installation in Heerlen.


there were about 150 people attending the opening from all over the country...


And this is how it looks now... again empty...


BUT, there is still some work to be seen by women who are participating in the project... we chose 5 works to display in Heerlen to show to people what beautiful things people are making by the experience of wearing the dress. You can still see it till May 10. We hope to repeat a small exhibition by participants on our next locations Groningen (Noorderzon) and Prague (DOX Gallery).

Tomoko is RED

Artis Moritz Ebinger took the initiative to create an alternative radio programme that is totally dedicated to the color RED.... All his guests have something to do with red.... So.... Tomoko was invited to his red studio at one of the major funding organisations Fund for the Visual Arts (Fonds BKVB).

It was fun, but most of all RED..
